Interview on the role of fisheries in food and nutrient security – in Italian

Vania Andreoli, a PhD researcher in the Sea Around Us - Indian Ocean research group, led by Prof Dirk Zeller, was interviewed by journalist Francesca Valdinoci of SBS Italian on her research. Vania is originally from Italy where she completed her MSc in Environmental Economics at the University of Turin. As part of the Sea Around Us - Indian Ocean at the University of Western Australia, Vania is investigating how fisheries in the Indian Ocean contribute to food and nutrient security and equity. In the interview she explains how the diminishing returns of catches, due to overfishing, are posing a risk to people’s health, but also how European and Asian vessels fish out the waters of the Indian Ocean driven by government subsidies.
