PhD title: The characteristics of pelagic wildlife assemblages in Thailand’s EEZ

I come from Thailand, where I graduated with a BSc in Fisheries and a MSc in Marine Science from Kasetsart University, Thailand. After my graduation, I worked as a Research Assistant in the Department of Marine Science, Faculty of Fisheries, Kasetsart University. In this position, I participated in several research projects in Thailand, including in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea. In 2022, with the support of a Royal Thai Government scholarship I began my studies for a PhD in the Marine Futures Lab at the University of Western Australia. I intend to examine the historical development of Thai fisheries within the Thai Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZs) over the last 70+ years through the historical reconstruction of fisheries data, in close collaboration with the Sea Around Us – Indian Ocean. I also hope to generate spatial benchmarks for fish assemblages in Thailand, using non-destructive sampling with stereo Baited Remote Underwater Video Systems (BRUVS). The outcomes of my research will support more effective management and conservation strategies in Thailand.
