School of Biological Sciences
University of Western Australia (UWA)

Lincoln’s childhood fascination with the ocean led her to study marine science at the University of Victoria, Canada. Afterwards, she worked as a Research Assistant for the Sea Around Us at the University of British Columbia, Canada, updating all maritime countries catch reconstructions in order to gain a better understanding of global fisheries. In 2017 she travelled to Australia where Prof Dirk Zeller had established the Sea Around Us Indian Ocean and where Lincoln continued her work in fisheries science. Lincoln decided to pursue a PhD in Marine Science on “Subtle impacts of marine vessel traffic on ocean wildlife inform conservation and management” while working as the Senior Research Assistant of the Sea Around Us Indian Ocean. Her thesis research was supervised by Prof Jessica Meeuwig, Wen Family Chair in Conservation and Director of the Marine Futures Lab, and Prof Dirk Zeller, Director of the Sea Around Us – Indian Ocean. Lincoln’s interests extend beyond vessel impacts to include the issue of marine debris. In April 2022, she began working for Tangaroa Blue Foundation, an Australia-wide not-for-profit dedicated to the prevention and removal of marine debris. She now works fulltime with Tangaroa Blue Foundation as a Technical Writer where she prepares submissions to the government, grant applications, and peer-reviewed scientific papers.
