MSc title: Nutritional profile of the Western Australian seafood market supply: local production and import/export
Aryan is originally from India and moved to Western Australia for his tertiary education at the University of Western Australia. He has always been passionate about the marine world and moving to Australia has only reinforced the passion. Aryan developed an interest in fisheries science in the final year of his BSc in Marine Biology. During 2023-2024, he is undertaking a UWA Master in Marine Biology in the Sea Around Us – Indian Ocean lab, under the supervision of Prof Dirk Zeller and Dr Alex Hesp from Western Australia Fisheries in the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development. His project involves examining the seafood nutritional and sustainability profile for the WA seafood market supply, including consideration of exports and imports. This research will help better understand the benefits of locally caught sustainable seafood, which also has a direct link to public health policy.
